The History of Art is revisited via a series of quotations. Johannes Vermeer is without a doubt the most famous painter of the Dutch Golden Age. This artwork has had a huge cultural impact over the centuries. One of the last examples of it is an interpretation of th painting by the artist Banksy who reproduced it as a mural in Bristol, incorporating an alarm box in place of the pearl earring and calling the artwork Girl with a Pierced Eardrum.
